Groninger horses
As you may know, Groninger horses are our favorite breed. A few years ago we bred our first foal Marco. In the meantime, Marco has been trained under the saddle last season.
Monopoly pregnant
Now we have some exciting baby news! Our Groninger mare Monopoly is pregnant! The father is the stallion Heraldo van Vredenheim. We expect the foal in June 2025.
Heraldo visited Ameland last summer, where he stayed for a few weeks. For us, this was a great opportunity to have Monopoly bred. We hope that the long-legged build of Heraldo and the robust build of Monopoly, along with the fact that both have a gentle and stable character, will result in a beautiful foal! Breeding is always a bit of a gamble in that regard. In any case, we are really looking forward to the arrival of the foal!

Groninger horses
Groninger horses are known for being reliable, level-headed, and hardworking. A few years ago, we bought our first Groningers, Kees and Froukje. Since then, we have grown to love this versatile breed more and more.
The Groninger horse is a Dutch breed that originates from the province of Groningen. This breed is very old and was originally bred as a strong workhorse for agriculture and transportation, but over time, it has also proven itself as a versatile riding horse.
For a time, it seemed that the Groninger breed would become extinct. Many breeders stopped breeding the breed because the need for draft power decreased. It wasn’t until the 1980s that a breeding program was established to preserve the breed. A number of volunteers were able to save the last Groninger stallion, Baldewijn, from being slaughtered. From there, the breed was rebuilt.
