- It is up to the instructor to assess whether a rider is sufficiently qualified to participate in a group trail ride (on public roads or in nature reserves).
- The group must be led by a rider who, in addition to having sufficient knowledge and experience to lead a group, also holds an instructor diploma or a valid riding certificate.
- The guide must be familiar with the route to be ridden.
- The leader of the group must instruct the riders before departure on the commands that will be given during the ride, as well as general behavioral rules in case of a fall, a runaway horse, etc.
- The leader of the group must have a mobile phone with emergency numbers, as well as the contact numbers for the stable and the veterinarian.
- The leader of the group must carry a spare stirrup leather and a sharp pocketknife.
- A group going out on a trail ride may not consist of more than 10 riders in total.
- Riders who are taking a lesson horse out individually must hold a valid riding certificate. Riders taking their own horse out are encouraged to obtain their riding certificate.
- The house rules and riding arena rules also apply to trail riding, where applicable.
- When riding in the dark or during twilight, the rider must have the legally required lighting. The rider must use a light that emits red light to the rear and white or yellow light to the front.
- Wearing reflective gear by both the horse and rider is strongly recommended.
- For trail rides with less experienced riders, the presence of an experienced rider is desirable to assist the group leader.
