For the little ones, renting a walking pony is perhaps the best way to discover Ameland. While mom, dad or another adult takes the pony for a walk, your little one enjoys being with an animal, the dunes and the beach.
Advance booking is recommended. We can then ensure that a pony is available. And the best thing: the pony is already ready when you arrive!
For how long can I rent a walking pony?

Frequently asked questions about renting a walking pony
Are the ponies used to walking with a child on their back?
For the walking ponies, we of course choose ponies that have a sweet and calm character and are naturally careful with small children, but of course they remain an animal with its own character. We give the person that leads the pony a short instruction, so that they know how to handle the pony. Would you like to get to know our ponies in advance? Then take a look at our horses and ponies page!
Does the walking pony get a saddle?
The ponies of Rijstal Le Cheval are equipped with a saddle, halter and sometimes also a grazing muzzle. There are stirrups on the saddle, with which the child can keep its balance. With the help of the halter, the person that leads the pony can take the pony by the hand. The grazing muzzle prevents the pony from wanting to stop to eat some tasty grass. Most ponies have a huge appetite. Even for ponies, the grass is always greener on the other side!
How much does it cost to rent a walking pony?
You can find the current prices on our prices page.
Which routes can I walk with the pony?
From our stable there is a beautiful bridle path that runs through the dunes to the beach. The ponies know this path well and are used to walking it. Whether you can go all the way to the beach depends on how long you rent the pony. For shorter walks you can take nice routes through the dune area next to the stable.
